Living Life On Purpose

Teaching Children Values

Greetings,

As I've mentioned in the blog recently, I wrote a series of blogs a few years back on Raising Peaceful Children. Over the 30 days of blogging at that the time, an entire values program emerged for families on Living and Teaching Values.

Recently, I've created a series of bookmarks on Values.   Here is the one on Goodness.

We designed them for both adults and children.  The front has just the one word on them.  And then on the back is the teaching for children.

When we talk about values that are important and discuss the meaning of them and how children can live them on a daily basis, they become alive for children.

When I taught in the classroom, often after lunch when the children would return to the classroom, they'd have a story about a problem that happened on the playground.

We would take time to discuss the difficulty and often I'd have them act out in front of the class the situation and how it could be resolved.  Doing this with numerous situations did give the children ideas of how to work things out.

I had this idea in my mind when I created the bookmarks. I can see how they can be used in the classroom very effectively as well as in the home.

For more ideas on how to talk with children about values, you can visit: www.TheABCsOfLiving.com  It can also be reached by going to www.SharonAnnWikoff.com

I'd LOVE to hear from you.  So, during the month of August, I will send a booklet about Living and Teaching Values to the first 10 people who comment on this blog posting about how they are Living or Teaching Values! Look forward to hearing from you.

In Joy,
sharon
