Living Life On Purpose
For the past 9 years now, almost every December I post this article from Pam Leo, author ofConnection Parenting; Parenting through Connection instead of Coercion, Through Love instead of Fear I had the JOY of taking a tele-class with her on the art of facilitating the class she had taught for many years, which led to the material in her book. Her website is www.ConnectionParenting.com
Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and friends of children...this article is amazing and hopefully with give you a great GIFT about the art of being with children.
As I reflect on the "new" website I just made live this week, I'm reminded of the importance of acknowledging the "Transitions" that we go through in life.
Previously, on the internet, I've only shared the work I've been involved in around PARENTING! This body of work also included many posts on the subject ofRAISING PEACEFUL CHILDREN.
I just couldn't bring myself to take down those blogs. I felt the information shared in them is very trans-formational for families deeply wanting to live in a new way.
A number of years ago, I was introduced to a book called,
Connection Parenting: Parenting through Connection instead of Coercion, Through Love instead of Fear.
I've mentioned the author Pam Leo a variety of times in my blogs, through the years.
Several of us took a 7 week Class with her and were given permission to offer classes based on her book.
She also is author of an article called: "The Gift Every Child Really Wants".With December being a month of holidays, I wanted to share with you excerpts from an this article written
by Pam Leo, author of the book,
Have you ever thought about the hidden and unseen world of the unborn infant? What must it be like? Can she feel? Can she see? What does she hear? Does the constant beat of her Mother's heart beat bring her comfort?
I never had given much thought to that "inside world"! However, I certainly remember the first time I felt my unborn child kick. What a Joy! What a gift to carry a child and give her a home within your body. What a gift motherhood is!
After having three children and seeing them all grow up and take their place in the world, I felt a longing to be back in the world of "Mothering".
when you aren’t sure what values are most important to you, clarification can come by looking at what
you don’t want. I’ve put a couple “case” experiences together to create a
possible family situation. Perhaps, such a "case" will help you become clear on what IS important to you for your family.
“family” is a family of four, the mother and her three children, a 6 year old boy, a 5 year old boy and a 4 year old girl.
The children were creative and fun- loving but very rude and
I was a child, I’ve had a very passionate love for infants. I was
like my mother in this way. My mother had a gift for communicating with little ones. She would talk to them, pause and wait for their
response. She would repeat this over and over. It was a JOY to watch her.
Little ones loved her. And she loved them.
I was working at a pre-school, I was introduced to the
Teachings of an extraordinary Infant Educarer, Magda Gerber.
Later, I went on to study with her in an 80
hour intensive training in the early 2000’s.
Have you ever had the JOY of someone really listening to you and feeling heard? Isn't it a great feeling?
For me, it was my Grandmother that deeply listened to me! It was such a GIFT!
I have found that Listening to a child, no matter what the issue is, can make a huge difference.
Do you wonder how to have more fun with
Do you seek a deep, rich connection
with each of your children?
Are you experiencing a challenge with your child?
After reading some inspiring pieces this morning from the
world of Facebook, which I’m not often on, I feel inspired to write for my Blog.
I’ve been taking a course with Lesa Townsend
on Blogging over the last several weeks. She encourages us to post daily for a
period of time. This is my second
such “challenge” with her and I find it
Having to write a new
post EVERY DAY, forces me to look for something “new” to write about...something
fresh…something inspiring…something that
has not been said before.
1980’s I was working as the Children’s Director of Education at the West Valley
Center for Spiritual Living in southern California. One of the books I purchased at that time and
have used over the last 30 years is,Children
As Teachers of Peace By Our Children,Edited by Gerald G. Jampolsky, M.D. author ofLove is Letting Go of Fear.
has children’s art work in it as well as their words about PEACE. In the book, the Editors shared that the book was a joyous journey and inspired from the truth in
the words: “
The holidays bring with them extra things to do. It’s always a wonderful idea to include the children whenever
possible. At the same time, it’s nice to
have the option of having time to yourself and yet knowing your
children are happy and contented.
Some years back I came up with the term “YES”
“YES” Environments are spaces for children which are
age-appropriate and allow for educational, fun and independent play.
These give freedom to both child and parent.
